PLayhouse stage Premieres
The Playhouse Stage Company Premieres program is intended to help foster new musicals and bring them to the stage for the very first time in fully-staged developmental productions. Though this program, PSC management and creative staff work with playwrights and composers, offering valuable and instructive feedback on their work, and providing resources to aide them in the continued development of their new musical. The capstone of this process is a multi-week residency at Cohoes Music Hall, with a paid creative staff, cast, and band, culminating in a fully-staged developmental premiere production of the work, filmed by a professional videographer to allow playwrights to continue to advocated for future productions and development of their musical.
How to Submit a New Musical for Consideration…
Playhouse Stage Company is always accepting submissions for Playhouse Stage Premieres. The ideal musical should be a full length work (of one or two acts), that has had at least an initial reading or workshop. We are especially interested in works created, in whole or in part, by current Capital Region artists or natives, however, we are happy to accept submissions from playwrights and composers outside the region. Only works with at least a formatted script and either a piano/vocal or guitar/vocal score will be considered. Submissions from all genres, including theatre for young audiences, are sought, and we encourage artists of all backgrounds and circumstances to submit their work.
To submit your work for consideration, please click here (or email Producing Artistic Director Owen Smith at owen@playhousestage.org). Please include at least a script and score sample, or the full script and score, as well as any summaries, character breakdowns, or other information about your work. If you have links to any previous demos, recordings, please include those as well.
